According to a recent report by Football.London, United Kingdom bookmakers, Skybet has made Tottenham Hotspur the second favourites to sign AS Monaco midfielder, Youri Tielemans, who is currently playing on loan at Leicester City. Skybet has listed Spurs at 7/2 to seal a move for the Belgian talent during the summer transfer window. However, Leicester City are currently the favourites at 4/6 to land the Monaco midfield ace in this offseason.
The Sensational Rise Of Youri Tielemans
Tielemans has enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at the King Power Stadium after he put in a few match-winning displays for the Foxes during this campaign. The Belgian’s spectacular displays on the pitch have helped Leicester secure a strong 9th placed finish in the Premier League this season.
The 22-year-old has made a total of 43 appearances for both AS Monaco and Leicester this term, scoring eight goals while grabbing six assists in all competitions. Tielemans has represented Belgium at various youth levels and is currently an integral member of Roberto Martinez’s senior squad.
He has earned 21 international caps for his nation and has registered one international goal for them thus far.
What Will The Belgian Midfielder Add To Pochettino’s Side?
Tielemans doesn’t have the pace to beat his marker, but he still manages to dribble with the ball effectively without losing possession of the ball. He also has a wide range of passes under his belt and is quite an accurate distributor of the ball. The Belgian prospect is also a significant goal-threat from midfield and has an eye for a killer pass in the opposition half.
At 22, Tielemans has his peak years ahead of him which Spurs could look to benefit from over the next few years. He will undoubtedly bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield options at the new White Hart Lane. Furthermore, the Belgian playmaker will also increase competition for places within the Tottenham squad.
Will Tielemans Be A Good Fit For Spurs?
All in all, he will be an excellent fit for Pochettino’s style of play at the North London club and could help them bridge the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table next season.
