It was end to end stuff at the White Hart Lane as Tottenham Hotspur and Everton took on each other in their last encounter of the season in the Premier League. The match ended at 2-2 as Everton settled for an eighth-place finish while Tottenham Hotspur qualified for the Champions League for the next season with a fourth-place finish.
Tottenham started in style as Eric Dier gave them the lead with only three minutes on the clock. However, that did not dampen the spirits of the Everton players, and they kept aiming for goal and peppered Hugo Lloris with shots. Their persistence paid off in the 69th minute as Theo Walcott found the back of the net with a sliding effort. The Toffees got themselves in the lead after Cenk Tosun scored the second goal of the match out of a goalmouth scramble. However, it was Christian Eriksen’s brilliant free-kick that brought the hosts back in the game as both sides got a deserved point.
Here is how the Tottenham Hotspur players were rated from their draw against Everton.
Hugo Lloris: 6.5
Kept his side in the match by pulling off several brilliant saves. Should have done better to hold onto the ball to prevent the second goal.
Kyle Walker-Peters: 6
Looked to get the ball into the box with his crossing from the right flank but lacked the accuracy. Did well to keep the opposition attackers under check.
Toby Alderweireld: 6
Dished out a solid defensive display in the first half. Looked out of sorts against the relentless Everton attacks in the second half though.
Eric Dier: 7
Did not let Spurs feel the absence of Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen with his composed display in the match. Gave his side the lead with an early goal.
Ben Davies: 5
Looked far from impressive throughout the match, especially against the guile of Theo Walcott. Gave too much space to the former Arsenal man as he took full advantage of it.
Moussa Sissoko: 7.5
A diligent performance from the Frenchman as he ran up and down the pitch with a lot of pace and precision. Kept intercepting to break up the opposition attacks on some occasions and opened up the defence with a few accurate passes to initiate his team’s attacks as well.
Christian Eriksen: 8
Went up and down the pitch with a lot of speed and dished out some brilliant passes to build the game from midfield. Got his side out of jail with a brilliant free kick to deceive Pickford in the 75th minute.
Dele Alli: 6
Went into the attack on several occasions in the first half but could not deliver the finishing touch. Was withdrawn at the start of the second half, probably to avoid any injury ahead of the big match on 1st June.
Érik Lamela: 6
Tried his best to get the ball into the box to assist the strikers but lacked the accuracy. Looked a little fatigued in the second half though.
Lucas Moura: 5.5
Nothing like what we saw from the Brazilian against Ajax. The Everton defenders Mina and Keane did not give him much of a chance to aim for the goal.
Fernando Llorente: 5
Very ordinary performance from the Spaniard as Zouma kept him quiet throughout the night. Was substituted in the second half.
Substitutes
Victor Wanyama: 6
Did a decent job after coming on for Alli in the second half.
Oliver Skipp: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
Vincent Janssen: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
