According to a recent report by Corriere dello Sport (via Sports Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to offer around €55m to bring AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo to North London at the end of this campaign. The same source has mentioned that Roma will consider cashing in on their prized asset if they miss out on UEFA Champions League for next season.
Zaniolo’s Rapid Rise In The Italian Top-Flight
The Massa born playmaker came through the youth ranks of Fiorentina before sealing a move as a free agent to play for the Entella Under-19 team back in 2016. Inter Milan decided to give him a shot, but he struggled to gain any first-team opportunities at the San Siro which saw Zaniolo being shipped out to Rome last summer.
The 19-year-old has risen to prominence at the Stadio Olimpico after putting in some eye-catching performances for the Serie A giants during this campaign. Zaniolo has featured in 34 matches for Claudio Ranieri’s side this term, registering six goals while providing two assists across all competitions.
Zaniolo has managed to earn two international caps for Italy which is an incredible feat for a teenager. He has all the makings to play an integral role for his nation if he can continue improving his game in the coming years.
What Will The Italian Wonderkid Bring To The New White Hart Lane?
Zaniolo has decent pace in his locker and can make some penetrative dribbles from midfield to either set-up his teammates or create a goal-scoring chance for himself. The Italian youngster has added some goals and assists to his game going forward which will give him a confidence boost heading into the new campaign.
However, Zaniolo is yet to prove his value away from Italian football, so there are some question marks over his ability to cope with the physical toll of Premier League football.
Is Zaniolo A Good Option For Spurs?
The Italian starlet is only getting better with each season and so the sky is the limit for him right now. Mauricio Pochettino could be the ideal manager to make the most out of his talents due to the Argentine coach’s stellar track record on developing young players.
The recent rise of Delle Alli, Harry Winks and Davinson Sanchez should serve as proof that Pochettino has what it takes to get the best out of the talents around him. Hence, Zaniolo could be a fabulous option for them to consider ahead of the new season.
