Liverpool will entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on Sunday evening looking to end their Premier League season with a win. The Reds can only win the league title if they can pick up all three points against Wolves and if Manchester City drop points against Brighton and Hove Albion. Hence, the Merseyside giants will be better of forgetting about the reward and concentrate on securing the victory against the West Midlands outfit this weekend.
Jurgen Klopp will stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and might make a whole host of changes to his side for this clash.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Alisson Becker is a nailed-on starter in goal for the Merseysiders as he attempts to keep another clean sheet at Anfield. The Brazilian keeper put in an excellent performance against Barca in midweek which should give a lot of confidence heading into this clash.
The defensive pair of Virgil Van Dijk and Dejan Lovren might get a chance to put in a solid display at the centre of Liverpool’s backline as they look to command their own box with authority and conviction. They are expected to go up against the Wolves duo of Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez at the back. Both strikers have enjoyed a fantastic campaign and so it won’t be easy for the Reds defenders to keep them quiet this weekend.
Trent Alexander-Arnold would operate as the right-back following his match-winning display versus the Catalans on Tuesday night. Andrew Robertson is a significant doubt for this game which means Klopp might deploy James Milner as a makeshift left-back. Both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez will have to settle for a place on the Liverpool bench, but they could get a chance to make an impact during the game if required.
Midfield
Klopp might opt for an energetic midfield three of Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as they press high up the pitch and retain possession for the Reds at the middle of the park.
Wijnaldum scored a brace of goals against the Spanish champions earlier this week, so he would be expected to make a major contribution in the opposition half.
Jordan Henderson might be rested for this clash as he has been heavily involved in Liverpool’s recent matches across all competitions. However, Naby Keita can be ruled out for the remainder of this campaign with a serious injury.
Attack
Klopp’s front three would include Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah looking to provide width on the flanks while Divock Origi operates as a centre-forward up top.
Xherdan Shaqiri was a bit underwhelming against Barca on Tuesday which means he might be dropped to the bench on Sunday.
