According to a recent report by Goal.com, Chelsea are set to lose their Polish goalkeeper Marcin Bulka for nothing when his contract at Stamford Bridge runs out at the end of this campaign. The same source has revealed that the young goalie will be a free agent this summer and intends to join Paris Saint-Germain so that he can get some first-team opportunities under his belt in the upcoming campaign.
Bulka’s Recent Struggles At Chelsea
The 19-year-old is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Pensioners as Maurizio Sarri has occasionally preferred to rotate Kepa Arrizabalaga with Willy Caballero during this season. Bulka grew up playing football in Poland where he played for Escola Varsovia before making a high-profile switch to Chelsea in the summer of 2016.
Since his move to England, the Polish youngster has been a prominent member of the club’s Under-18 and Under-23 teams respectively. However, he has not made a single senior appearance for the West London outfit thus far which is why he could decide to move to PSG this summer.
The Polish Keeper’s Record For Chelsea’s Under-23 Team
The Polish shot-stopper has featured in 5 matches for Chelsea’s Under-23 team this term, conceding six goals while keeping one clean sheet in the Premier League 2. He has also represented his nation at various youth levels. Bulka has the potential to be a world-class goalkeeper in the future so his departure will be a bitter pill to swallow for the Stamford Bridge faithful.
Why Losing Bulka Is A Big Mistake By Sarri
The Premier League side cannot afford to lose any of their squad members especially with a two-transfer window ban (handed by FIFA) looming on the horizon. Maurizio Sarri needs to keep most of his players happy and content at the club so that they do not leave in search of greener pastures.
Even though, Bulka’s departure won’t affect Chelsea’s first-team plans at all, yet it will hurt the club to lose one of it’s promising young players for nothing in this offseason. Sarri will now have to concentrate on bringing in a suitable replacement so that they have a long-term candidate for the goalkeeping position. However, there is no hiding from the fact that the Chelsea boss has made a massive mistake in not trying harder to retain the services of Bulka for the long-run.
