According to a recent report by the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane is making a speedy recovery and is in contention to make his comeback in the UEFA Champions League final if Spurs are successful in seeing off the challenge of AFC Ajax in the semi-finals.
The same source has also revealed that the English striker is finally out of his protective boot and is currently taking great strides towards completing his recovery from an ankle injury.
Tottenham’s Inconsistency Without Kane
Spurs have been impressive in the Champions League as they were able to beat Manchester City on away goals over two legs in the last round. However, the North London outfit suffered a setback at the new White Hart Lane when they were beaten 1-0 by West Ham United yesterday which won’t bode well for them ahead of their semi-final first-leg versus Ajax in midweek.
Even though the recent form of Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura and Christian Eriksen have been quite eye-catching, the fact remains that Spurs lack the X-factor up top.
Kane adds a lot of goals to Mauricio Pochettino’s side so if he can make a comeback before the Champions League final (caveat is obviously they have to qualify for it) then the English forward will undoubtedly (duh!) give the North London outfit an edge in the final hurdle of the biggest club competition in world football.
What Does Kane Add To Pochettino’s Team?
Kane boasts decent pace and can make well-timed runs behind the opposition defence. He is a fox inside the opposition half due to his knack for finding space and getting shots in at goal. The England international is a proven goalscorer, so if Spurs manage to beat Ajax and get to the Champions League final, then Kane would fancy delivering at the biggest stage and creating history with the club by attempting to win their first European Cup.
Pochettino’s team are better with Kane leading the charge up top even though Tottenham have coped well in the striker’s absence. The 25-year-old has featured in 39 matches for Spurs this term, scoring 24 goals while grabbing six assists across all competitions.
The English Forward’s Speedy Return: Big Boost For Spurs?
When playing with confidence, the English talent is a hard man to stop so his rapid progress will undoubtedly be a massive boost for Tottenham and their chances of ending this campaign on a high.
In fact the sub-heading is quite stupid given Harry Kane is probably the best striker (Aguero might argue the point though) in the Premier League. Of course, his presence will give Spurs the balance they sorely miss.
