According to a recent report by the Daily Mirror (via Liverpool Echo), Everton are preparing a move to secure the signature of Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham, who is currently playing on loan at Aston Villa. However, the same source also mentions that any potential move for the Toffees will hinge on whether the Villans can secure promotion back to the Premier League at the end of this campaign.
Abraham’s Remarkable Season For Aston Villa So Far
The former Swansea City striker has enjoyed a stellar campaign at Villa Park thus far after putting in some match-winning displays for Dean Smith’s side during this campaign. The English striker came through the youth ranks of Chelsea but is yet to earn a regular spot in the West London club’s first-team. Abraham has gone out on loan to three different clubs during his Stamford Bridge career.
He has previously played for clubs such as Bristol City and Swansea City before finally making a name for himself with the Villans this season. The 21-year-old has made a total of 39 appearances for Villa this term, scoring 25 times while creating three assists across all competitions.
Abraham has also represented England at various youth levels and has managed to earn two international caps for Gareth Southgate’s senior team.
What Will The English Forward Bring To Merseyside?
The London born prospect is highly versatile as he can play in multiple positions across the frontline. He primarily operates as a centre-forward and is equally capable of featuring on the wide areas. Abraham boasts electric pace and is a powerful dribbler with the ball at his feet. He has also transformed himself into a lethal finisher inside the opposition penalty box.
Recruiting Abraham: Wise Move For Spurs?
The potential acquisition of Abraham will undoubtedly bolster Marco Silva’s attacking options at Goodison Park. He will not only be an ideal centre-forward for them up top but will also add healthy competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun for a place in the Everton starting XI.
Thus, Abraham could be a smart addition to the Toffees squad, but the jury is still out on whether he can handle the pressure of playing in the Premier League week in week out.
