According to the latest reports from the Scotsman, Timothy Weah has given a clear indication that he could once again return to Celtic Park on another loan spell. French heavyweights Paris Saint Germain currently owns the American international, and it was seen as a massive coup by the club when they secured his signature for six months in January.
The latest update from the forward is further good news for the club as Weah has the potential to be a game changer for his side. Given the talent which PSG have in their attacking third, it is probably wise from the player that he is willing to continue his loan spell at Parkhead.
What did Weah say?
The 19-year-old was quoted as saying, ”We just have to discuss it and see what opportunity best fits me and is best for my career and future. Who knows? There’s always a possibility I could have another spell at Celtic. Right now, I’m just focused on finishing the season, helping the team try to win the treble again and hopefully getting one or two more goals.’
“It’s been great for me at Celtic so far. I’ve taken every moment that I can stretch out of it. I’ve made three starts, a lot of sub appearances and scored four goals.”
Weah’s game time reduced since Neil Lennon took over but he has been impressive in whatever game time he has had.
Is he worth signing again?
It is true that Celtic are only likely to get him on another loan spell. So some fans might feel that there is no point in developing a player who isn’t going to be at the club for long. However, Celtic are set to lose quite a few players in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Having a player like Weah again (even if it is on a loan spell) would be a massive boost for the club. Plus the American international has already earned some valuable experience in the Premiership, and so he should improve further in the next season.
Weah can play anywhere in the attacking third, and that should come in handy for any manager who takes over the top job at Celtic Park next season. His pace, touch and ability to finish have stood out in his loan spell. There is no doubt in our mind that Celtic should look to pull off another loan deal for him now that the player has also indicated that it could be on the cards.
