Millwall gave Leeds United a boost before the game as they held Sheffield United to a draw by scoring a last gasp equaliser. The Whites did their job as well as they secured a 1-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road.
It was again one of those games where Leeds United battered their opposition by creating chance after chance, but they failed to find the back of the net for the most part. The Whites had 28 goal attempts and six shots on target. But the crucial thing was that they got their all-important goal in the end, and managed to keep a clean sheet.
Jack Harrison scored in the 65th minute as he made a smart run in the box and helped the ball on its way from Pablo Hernandez’s low cross. The Whites endured some nervy moments in the end as the Owls tried to get an equaliser. However, the West Yorkshire outfit held on to secure a win which now gives them a three-point lead over the Blades.
Kiko Casilla 5
Made some poor decisions while dealing with some high balls. Misplaced a few passes while trying to play out from the back.
Pontus Jansson 7.5
Put in a dominating display as he pocketed Gary Hooper. Almost nothing went past him throughout the game.
Gaetano Berardi 6.5
Got a start because of the injury to Liam Cooper. Looked shaky to begin with as he was found out of position on occasions. Grew in stature as the game went on and secured a clean sheet for his side in the end.
Ezgjan Alioski 5
His touch was way off as he failed to put together some simple passes in the first half. Put in some usual wayward crosses as well.
Luke Ayling 7.5
Always provided an attacking outlet down the right. Worked hard and put in some decent crosses. Did an excellent job at the back as well.
Kalvin Phillips 6
His pinpoint passing was missing, but nevertheless, the midfielder did enough in the end as he worked hard defensively. An average game for the Englishman.
Mateusz Klich 6
Moved the ball well in central areas. Was greedy on occasions as he let fly some shots from range when better passing options were available.
Pablo Hernandez 7.5
Almost all the incisive passing and creativity comes from the Spaniard. Once again picked some beautiful passes, and registered an assist for the goal.
Tyler Robers 6.5
Like always, he was sharp with his movement and was quite a handful for the opposition’s defence. Still can do better with the final product.
Jack Harrison 7.5
Finished brilliantly with his unfavoured foot. Worked extremely hard down the left as he tracked back well and made some smart runs inside the box.
Patrick Bamford 6
Had to drop deep to get into the game in the first half. Did a decent job, but failed to find any goalmouth action before being substituted by Kemar Roofe.
Substitute
Kemar Roofe 5.5
Provided energy after coming on. Looked a bit too eager to score as he scuffed some of his attempts.
Adam Forshaw 6
Made a positive impact after coming on as he drove the ball forward, and found his team-mates in space with his passes.
