According to a recent report by Belgian publication DH, Liverpool are prepared to let Simon Mignolet leave at the end of this campaign. The same source has also revealed that the Reds consider the Belgian goalie to be an expensive back-up option to Alisson Becker, so they are willing to let him go in the summer.
Liverpool have enjoyed a fantastic campaign thus far as they are still going strong in the Premier League while they also have one foot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after they secured a solid 2-0 win over FC Porto. The Belgian international has made just two starts for the Merseyside outfit this term, conceding four goals in the process.
The former Sunderland stop-stopper is in dire need of a change in scenery so that he can reignite his career in European football. Thus, it might be a move that will benefit all parties this summer. Here are three replacements for Mignolet that Klopp should consider recruiting ahead of the new campaign.
Jordi Masip
The Real Valladolid keeper has enjoyed a solid campaign in the La Liga thus far. The Spanish talent has made 31 appearances for Sergio González Soriano’s side this term, conceding 43 goals while keeping seven clean sheets. He could be an ideal back-up to Alisson at Anfield as the Spaniard is an experienced keeper at the back. That is exactly what Liverpool should look for while recruiting a new goalie this summer.
Joe Hart
The Burnley shot-stopper had a fantastic first half to this campaign but has recently lost his first-team place to Tom Heaton. Hart has featured in 21 matches for the Clarets this season, shipping in 41 goals while keeping six shutouts at the back across all competitions.
The English keeper still has a few years left in his locker to play at a high level so Liverpool should consider bringing him to Merseyside to rival Alisson in the off-season.
Yann Sommer
The Bundesliga goalie has been a fantastic asset for Borussia Monchengladbach this season. He has been an integral part of their backline, and his incredible contributions have helped the club climb to the 5th place in the league table. Sommer has conceded 40 goals in 29 matches while keeping 11 clean sheets in all competitions. Hence, it would be wise for Klopp to try and lure him to Anfield next summer.
