According to a recent report by Le10Sport, Liverpool are interested in securing the services of AFC Ajax winger David Neres but will face stiff competition from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund in pursuit of the Brazilian talent. The same source has revealed that Ajax will demand a fee around £40m for their prized asset which shouldn’t be a major stumbling block for the Reds.
The Rise Of David Neres
The South American sensation came through the youth ranks of Sao Paulo before his high-profile switch to Amsterdam at the start of 2017. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic season with the Dutch giants thus far after putting in a series of impressive displays for them during this campaign. He has lit up the Dutch top-flight with some brilliant match-winning contributions this term. Hence, it is no surprise that some of the elite European clubs are trying to recruit him.
Neres has featured in 43 matches for Ajax this season, scoring 11 goals while creating 15 assists in all competitions. He has also managed to earn one international cap for Brazil and has all the skill set to play an integral role for his country in the coming years.
What Will Neres Bring To Merseyside?
What makes Neres so special is his incredible versatility as he can play in multiple positions across the frontline. Even though the Brazilian is primarily a right-sided winger, he is equally capable of filling in on the left or down the middle in the number 10 position.
Neres boasts blistering pace and is a difficult man to stop when he is dribbling with the ball at top speed. Furthermore, he has added goals and assists to his game this season which has elevated his reputation to a whole new level in European football.
Will The Brazilian Winger Be The Right Fit For Liverpool?
Thus, Liverpool should do everything in their power to lure the Brazilian talent to Anfield as he has the potential to strike up a great partnership with his international compatriot Roberto Firmino in the opposition half.
Jurgen Klopp also needs to add more competition for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah so that they are always on their toes when it comes to working hard in training. Neres fits the bill perfectly and could turn out to be a great fit for the Merseyside club in the long run.
