Liverpool will clash heads with Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Friday night at the back of a hard-fought 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. The Reds could go back to the top of the Premier League table if they can claim maximum points against the Saints.
However, it won’t be easy as Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men are fighting for their top-flight lives and will be trying their best to get a result against their Merseyside opponents. Jurgen Klopp will opt for a 4-3-3 formation and might start with Adam Lallana and Fabinho in his midfield.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
Alisson Becker will begin the match in between the sticks for the Merseyside outfit despite failing to keep a clean sheet against Spurs last weekend. The centre-back duo of Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip will once again lineup at the heart of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep things stable at the back.
Trent-Alexander Arnold will get the nod to start at the right-back position while Andrew Robertson operates on the other side as the left-back as he attempts to link up with Sadio Mane down the left flank.
The Reds have a brilliant defensive record in the Premier League this season so Klopp would hope that his defenders can put in another solid display on Friday night.
Midfield
The energetic midfield three of Fabinho, Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum could feature against the Saints as they look to establish the away side’s dominance in midfield. Both James Milner and Jordan Henderson failed to impress against Mauricio Pochettino’s men so they might be demoted to the bench for this clash at the south coast of England.
Attack
Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah are nailed-on starters for the Reds up front. Mane has been in a rich vein of form before the international break while Firmino also managed to find the back of the net against Spurs last weekend so both of them will fancy their chances of getting a goal against the Saints.
However, Salah has completely lost his confidence in front of goal so Klopp would be keeping his fingers crossed that the Egyptian winger can be more productive at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Friday.
