According to Mail Online, Everton manager Marco Silva is willing to sign central midfielder Andre Gomes on a permanent deal in the next summer transfer window. The Barcelona ace is currently plying his trade at Goodison Park on a season-long loan and is set to return to Nou Camp at the end of the season.
Gomes had been an outcast at the La Liga club since his arrival a couple of seasons ago. He had not been able to find a strong foothold in the midfield areas which already included stars like Ivan Rakitic, Arthur and Sergio Busquets.
However, at Everton, the Portuguese ace has once again shown why he is so highly rated and has established himself as the main man in the heart of the pitch for the Toffees so far this season.
His partnership in the midfield with Idrissa Gueye has given the Merseyside club a rejuvenation in their playing style which had been missing in the last couple of seasons. The duo have even been influential against the top oppositions, and it is imperative for the Toffees to hold onto them under any circumstance.
With Gueye linked closely with a move to Paris Saint Germain in the January transfer window, there is some chance that the Senegalese player might look to force a move out of the club in the next transfer window. With the situation being this, the inclusion of Gomes on a permanent basis at the start of the new season might provide the Toffees and their manager with a lot of relief.
The Toffees were not able to capitalise on their decent start this season and lost their way in the middle. However, they are looking to finish the season on a high with good performances. With almost no hope for them to end the season in the top eight, the Merseyside club should look to start planning for the next season already. Andre Gomes should be one of the major targets for the Everton gaffer.
Marco Silva has not been able to replicate his charismatic managerial stint which he showed during his days with Watford as far as this season is concerned. However, it is still early days for him at the helm of the Merseyside club. One would hope that he decides to sanction a move for Gomes from Barcelona when this ongoing season concludes.
