According to a recent report by talkSPORT, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has hinted at the possibility of making a future move to secure the services of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. This recent development comes after the French midfielder claimed that it would be a dream to play for Los Blancos last month (via talkSPORT).
In a recent interview mentioned by the same source, Zidane said, “I like Pogba a lot, it’s nothing new.
“I know him personally. He’s a different kind of player, he brings so much and there are few players who bring as much as he does.
“He’s a midfielder who knows how to defend and how to attack. He knows how to do everything on the pitch.”
The French legend went on to add, “He [Pogba] is not part of my squad, he plays at United and what he’s said about Real Madrid and his desire to come here, if one day he gets the chance when he wants to leave United….if, when he finishes his experience at United, he wants to come here, why shouldn’t he come to Real Madrid?”
Zidane’s recent words and admiration towards Pogba will be quite concerning for the Red Devils and their chances of keeping hold of their prized asset. The French midfielder has bee inconsistent for Man United so far this season, but when Pogba is firing on all cylinders on the pitch, then he can be a real force to be reckoned with and is a joy to watch.
The Red Devils fans have seen both the good and the bad sides of Paul Pogba in this campaign. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner looked like a shadow of his former self under Jose Mourinho’s tutelage in the first half of this campaign. However, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival at Old Trafford, Pogba has fared much better as he has now become a prolific goal-getter and an assist maker from midfield.
If Man United end up missing out on UEFA Champions League football for next season, then there is a high likelihood that Pogba might want to move on in search of more challenging adventures. However, if they do end up securing a top 4 finish, then Ed Woodward and Solskjaer will be in a far better position to fend off the Galacticos’ interest on their star player, at least for the immediate future.
The 26-year-old has found the back of the net 14 times while creating 11 assists in 38 matches for Man United this term in all competitions. He is an integral part of Solskjaer’s current team so the Mancunian outfit cannot afford to let him leave without putting up a proper fight to retain his services.
