It was a hard-fought affair at the Celtic Park as two of the biggest rivals, Celtic and Rangers, went up against each other. The hosts came out all guns blazing from the very first and got the opening goal of the match via Odsonne Edouard in the 27th minute. The visitors came back into the game in the 63rd minute via Ryan Kent’s strike, but James Forrest sealed the match for the Hoops in the 86th minute.
Rangers got a huge blow within the opening 31 minutes of the match as Alfredo Morelos once again was sent off for an early shower. Gerrard’s men never looked like getting the better of their opponents after the early dismissal of their main man in attack and lost the match by 2-1.
Here is how the Celtic players were rated from their win against Rangers.
Scott Bain: 6
Did well to keep the opposition attackers away from the goal with a few good saves throughout the match. Could have done better to stop the goal though.
Mikel Lustig: 6
Went up the pitch with good pace and delivered a few good balls in the box as well. His backtracking was not good enough though.
Dedryck Boyata: 7
Good composure from the Belgian ace in the backline. Kept playing on the shoulders of opposition forwards.
Kristoffer Ajer: 6
Had a decent first half as he vied well against the Rangers players and kept them away from the goal. Looked shaky in the second half though and allowed Kent to score the goal.
Kieran Tierney: 7
Looked to make runs into the danger area down the left flank and kept getting the ball into the box often. His defensive efforts also proved good enough for the Rangers attackers.
Scott Brown: 7
A substantial shift in the midfield from the skipper as he vied for the ball. Won most of the battles in midfield against the likes of Arfield and Ryan Jack. Redeemed himself after the horror last Old Firm derby where Rangers ran out 1-0 winners and ran him ragged in the process.
Oliver Ntcham: 6
Passed the ball well to build attacks from the midfield in the first half. Looked a little subdued in the second half though.
Callum McGregor: 6
Tried his level best to get the ball up the pitch. His passing, however, was not accurate on the day.
James Forrest: 8
Created a number of chances for his side throughout the match. Deceived the opposition with his classy footwork and laid down the assist for Edouard to score the opening goal of the game. Met the ball at the end of a great run in the dying minutes of the match to convert Edouard’s assist into the winning goal to give his side another memorable win to cherish against the old foes.
Jonny Hayes: 6
Kept getting the ball into the box with his accurate passing. Looked a bit fatigued and was replaced by Scott Sinclair at the start of the second half.
Odsonne Edouard: 8
Brilliant composure from the Frenchman as he led the line for his side with absolute precision. Kept a cool head to find the back of the net in the first half after vying with the opposition defenders. Delivered an inch-perfect ball for Forrest as the midfielder found the back of the net to win the match for his side.

Good show of attacking intent from the left back as he replaced Tierney and went up the pitch with the ball on quite a few occasions.
