According to a recent report by Tuttomercatoweb (translated by the Daily Star), Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to launch an offer to secure the services of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic in the summer. The same source has also revealed that Inter are willing to cash in on their prized asset and are looking to recoup around £30m (€35m) for him.
The fact that the Croatia international could be available in the summer will be a welcome bit of news for the Tottenham supporters as they are desperate to see Mauricio Pochettino strengthen his squad in the off-season to help Spurs end their long wait for a major trophy soon.
The 30-year-old wide player has been a brilliant asset for the Milan giants over the past few years since making a switch from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015. Perisic has put in a string of majestic displays under Luciano Spaletti’s tutelage during this campaign. He has managed to find the back of the net five times while providing seven assists in 35 matches for the Italian outfit this season in multiple competitions.
The former Borussia Dortmund has also scored 22 international goals in 78 matches for Croatia thus far. He played a crucial role for his nation when he helped the Croatia national team bag a second-placed finish in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Perisic primarily operates as a floating winger down the left flank but is equally capable of playing on the right or as an attacking midfielder down the middle. Furthermore, he has also earned a lot of experience after playing in many different European leagues during his career.
The Croatia wide man knows what it takes to win so he could benefit Pochettino’s side by changing the mentality of the Tottenham squad. He will bring a winning mindset to the North London club. At 30, the Serie A winger still has enough in his locker to lose his marker and wreak havoc inside the opposition penalty area.
Hence, the potential acquisition of Perisic could be a wise deal for Spurs as he would help them cope with European football better while also bring in a level of calmness to Pochettino’s dressing room. Perisic will also help Pochettino’s men deal with the pressure of challenging on all fronts in the upcoming campaign.
