Ryan Kent has emerged as a crucial player for Rangers this season, and the player himself has given enough indication that he would be willing to move to Ibrox permanently.
There is no doubt (to us atleast) that Rangers would try to land him again on loan or permanently. But Steven Gerrard might have to ward off some new competition for the Liverpool winger. Latest reports from the Scottish Sun suggests that Fulham are ready to jump on board to sign Kent from Liverpool.
The report adds that the English club might look to buy Kent from Liverpool whereas Gerrard might once again look to pull off a loan deal for him. Fulham’s scouts were reportedly present at Ibrox to see Kent from close quarters and maybe the Premier League strugglers liked what they saw about Kent.
This should come as a blow to Steven Gerrard who must have thought that he is going to have a clear path towards signing the winger again. However, the way the 23-year-old has settled in at Ibrox, he might still personally want to continue with the Bears. However, things aren’t going to be entirely in his hand as Liverpool might look to sell the player permanently. In such a scenario, Fulham can outbid a club like Rangers in the transfer market.
The Cottagers though are on their way down to the Championship as they have managed just 17 points throughout the season so far. So it is more or less certain now that the club is going to play in the second division. Kent might be tempted to prove his worth in England, but we feel that he has found his level at Rangers. He should look to continue with them if given an opportunity.
Kent has so far managed five goals and nine assists this season, and with more time, we believe he can come up with better numbers. The improvement is already there to see as the former England u-20 international started off slow but has now emerged as a crucial player for his team in the attacking third. His final product has definitely improved and he could go on to improve further if he continues to stay at Ibrox.
With Steven Gerrard at the helm of the club, we would still say that Rangers can pull off a deal for Kent given the relationship Gerrard must share with the Liverpool hierarchy. Fulham will really need to come with a better offer to blow Rangers apart and that is the only way we can see Kent moving to Craven Cottage next season.
