According to a recent report by Sport Bild, Liverpool are not ready to give up on the chase of Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi despite Bayern Munich’s current interest in recruiting the English talent. The same source has also revealed that the Pensioners wonderkid has grown frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities under Maurizio Sarri this season. It seems like the Reds are willing to use it as an opportunity to persuade the youngster to make a switch to Anfield at the end of this campaign.
Hudson-Odoi has been a sporadic feature for the West London giants this season with most of his appearances coming in the cup competitions. He has often been named on Sarri’s bench for the Premier League matches despite Chelsea’s recent struggles in front of goal.
Except for Hazard, none of Sarri’s other front players has managed to be consistent with their performances on the pitch, so it is difficult to understand why Sarri has not utilised Hudson-Odoi’s talents more often at Stamford Bridge this season.
The 18-year-old has featured in 24 matches this term, scoring six goals while grabbing six assists in all competitions. The fact that the Hudson-Odoi has managed to be so productive in the opposition half goes on to show how well he has done even with limited game time for Chelsea thus far.
The London-born prospect came through the youth ranks of Chelsea and is on the verge of being a regular first-team starter at the senior level. He boasts blistering pace and is very direct with his running down the flanks. Hudson-Odoi is not afraid to take on his marker and get to the by-line so that he can deliver some inviting crosses from the wide areas. His finishing in front of goal has also improved during this campaign which has made him one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe.
The addition of someone of Hudson-Odoi’s potential will undoubtedly bolster Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options at Anfield. The Liverpool boss has shown in recent seasons that he can get the best out of his young players as evidenced by the rapid rise of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Andrew Robertson to name a few.
Hence, the German manager could be the ideal man to make the most out of Hudson-Odoi and help him fulfil his real potential in English football. The English wonderkid is a star in the making and Liverpool will do well to snap him up next summer.
