Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is currently spending time on the treatment table after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury during his team’s 2-0 win over Chelsea back in January. In a recent interview with the club’s official website, Arsenal’s Head of Sports Medicine and Athletic Development, Des Ryan shared a unique insight on the Spaniard’s road to recovery and said,
“It’s been so busy for him, so one of the rare things he gets to experience now is the time to develop even more in the gym.
“I know with Darren, Shad and Barry looking after him, and all the physios in the first team, I can see him coming back at an even higher level.”
It is no secret that Bellerin has had his fair share of injury concerns during his playing career thus far. However, the fact that he is working hard to develop his strength in the gym proves that the player is willing to do whatever it takes to come back stronger than ever and be a force to be reckoned with at the North London club next season.
Ryan’s insight on how the Spanish full-back can be back playing ‘at an even higher level’ will be a welcome bit of news for anyone associated with the Gunners. It will be a massive boost for Unai Emery’s team if they can get Bellerin back firing on all cylinders in the next campaign.
Before his injury, the former Barcelona starlet was enjoying the form of his life as he was a very potent weapon for Emery down the right flank. Bellerin managed to get five assists in 19 league appearances for Arsenal this term which goes to show how productive he can be going forward.
Bellerin boasts blistering pace and is a penetrative dribbler with the ball. He can also deliver some inviting crosses from the wide areas. However, there are still some question marks over his defensive capabilities. The Spaniard has often let his team down due to his lack of desire to track back and defend in his own half. Hence, he needs to improve and overcome his injury concerns if he wants to make a positive impact next season.
There is no doubt that it will be a massive boost for Emery’s side if Bellerin can improve his game even further after his long injury layoff. However, the proof is in the pudding so only time will tell whether Des Ryan’s insights will come true about Bellerin’s impact at the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming campaign.
