According to a recent report by Francefootball.fr, Real Madrid could restart their pursuit of Liverpool speedster Sadio Mane after Zinedine Zidane’s return as the club’s manager. The same source has revealed that the Galacticos are ready to move in for the Senegalese international once again this summer after a move failed to materialise in the past year.
Mane has been in scintillating form for Liverpool of late after he scored 11 goals in his last 11 outings for the Reds across all competitions. His world-class goal at the Allianz Arena helped the Merseyside outfit qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League last week where they will now face FC Porto next month.
The Senegalese winger has also fired on all cylinders in the Premier League this season which has kept his side in an excellent position to end their 29-year wait for a league title.
The former Southampton ace has made 38 appearances for Liverpool this term, scoring 20 goals while creating four assists across all competitions. Mane is also vastly experienced at the international level having made 58 appearances for his country while scoring 15 goals for them thus far.
The Reds prospect boasts blistering pace and incredible power which helps him get past his marker to wreak havoc in the final third. Mane has also improved his finishing this season which has seen him score more goals for Jurgen Klopp’s team.
If the recent reports are accurate, then it could be a massive setback for Klopp and his chances of retaining Mane’s services for the long-run. Liverpool are in desperate need of winning a major trophy under Klopp this season; otherwise, their marquee players could explore the possibility of switching clubs to ensure that they have a better chance of securing some silverware in the coming years.
The fact that Mane recently penned a new, long-term contract at Anfield will help the Reds fend off any interest for their prized asset for the time being. However, things can move at a rapid pace in football, so there is a chance that Madrid might be able to turn Mane’s head this summer. Hence, Klopp needs to make sure that he declines any offer that comes in for the player at the end of this campaign as Liverpool just cannot afford to sell one of their stars if they are to continue improving over the next few years.
