Real Madrid returned to winning ways in their very first match under their new manager Zinedine Zidane. The Galacticos dished out a clinical performance from the very first whistle against the La Liga strugglers Celta Vigo and notched up a 2-0 win as the Frenchman started off his second stint as the Real Madrid manager with a win.
With the likes of Marcelo, Keylor Navas, Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale and Isco returning to the starting lineup, Real Madrid looked rejuvenated from the word go. Isco and Gareth Bale scored one goal apiece for the Galacticos as they consolidated their place in the third spot in the La Liga table.
Here is how the Real Madrid players were rated from their win against Celta Vigo.
Keylor Navas: 7
Brilliant outing for the Costa Rican international as he was given the opportunity to start in the goal by Zidane. He returned the faith shown towards him by the French gaffer by pulling off some crucial saves throughout the match, especially the one to deny Maxi Gomez in the first half.
Alvaro Odriozola: 7
Kept getting into wide areas with very less resistance from the Celta defenders and got the ball into the danger area quite a few times. His pace and energy were consistent throughout the match.
Raphael Varane: 6
Looked a little shaky on occasions but did a commendable job to keep the opposition attackers at bay. Was at fault for standing in an offside position so as to deny Luka Modric the first goal that was disallowed after VAR reference.
Sergio Ramos: 7
A composed performance in the heart of the backline from El Capitan as he kept playing on the shoulders of the Celta attackers. Came very close to notching up a goal but headed the ball just wide of the post.
Marcelo: 7
His flamboyant running with the ball and classy footwork was too much for the opposition defenders to deal with. Kept a close eye on the attacks building from the left-hand side of the pitch and intercepted well to break them down.
Toni Kroos: 7
Fought well for the ball in the middle of the pitch. Was spot on with his tackles to dispossess the Celta players and regain possession.
Luka Modric: 8
Kept tormenting the opposition players with his nimble stepovers and shot making throughout the match. Was unlucky to be denied the credit of scoring the opening goal due to the wrong positioning of Varane in the Celta box.
Isco: 8
A brilliant outing for the Spaniard as he showed why Solari was wrong in keeping him on the sidelines during his regime. Kept getting into the channels, passed the ball accurately, made some good challenges on the opposition players and above all, opened the scoring for his side to breach the resistance put up by the Celta defenders. Could not have been a better come back to the first team for him.
Marco Asensio: 7
Played to his strengths as he kept making runs into the danger area. Was a threat for the opposition defenders throughout the match.
Gareth Bale: 8
Another brilliant performance from another comeback man. The Welshman started the match on the left-hand side as the wide attacker and showed how deadly he can be if deployed in the right position. Kept getting into the danger area and took his chances well. Sealed the match with a right foot drive to earn all three points for his side.
Karim Benzema: 7
Looked as lethal as ever. Kept playing on the shoulders of the likes of Costas and Araujo throughout the match and made it easy for his teammates to take advantage.
