According to the latest reports from TalkSport, Leeds United have been linked with QPR’s attacking midfielder Luke Freeman for a move in the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old has been a crucial player for his side as he has racked up four assists and eight goals this season. However, the former Gillingham player recently reacted to the rumours of his possible move in the summer and indicated that he isn’t too concerned about that currently.
Freeman was quoted as saying by the West London Sport. He said, ”I’m not concentrating on that at all. We’ve got 10 games left of the season; the most important thing is QPR. So I will concentrate on QPR picking up points and winning games.”
It’s clear that the midfielder is trying to play down his move for now, but there is no doubt in our mind that he would be tempted to move to Leeds United, especially if they manage to secure a place in the English top flight. Freeman even had a stint with English heavyweights Arsenal as he joined their youth academy but failed to make it to the top level with them.
Freeman should fit in well into Bielsa’s playing style as he is direct in his approach when he has the ball at his feet and without it, he showcases an impressive work rate. The 26-year-old is often on set-piece duties for his side, and he has a mean left foot which enables him to score some long-range goals.
At the Championship level, Freeman looks like a decent signing. But the big question remains whether the midfielder would be able to deliver the goods in the Premier League as the Whites need to prepare their summer targets according to the division they play in.
The Whites parted ways with Samuel Saiz in January, and they don’t have an outright no. 10 in their squad right now. Bielsa has been quite flexible in his approach while using the attacking players, but the club cannot do with makeshift players in the Premier League.
Therefore it is necessary for them to sign some specialist in their positions and Freeman looks to be a decent addition. However, performing at the top level is going to be challenging for him. The midfielder currently seems focused on the job at hand at Loftus Road as he didn’t seem to bother much about the rumours linking him to Leeds. Hopefully from the Whites’ point of view, as the season comes to an end, Freeman decides to give some thoughts about moving to Elland Road.
