Rangers’ only chance of winning a silverware this season seems to be the Scottish Cup, and they will square up against Aberdeen in the replay of the quarterfinals at Ibrox. Rangers came out of the game at Pittodrie with a draw and Gerrard would hope that his men can do the trick at home.
However, Aberdeen are going to be no pushovers. They achieved an impressive result recently against Celtic at Parkhead by holding the Champions to a draw. On another day, they could have nicked the game based on their performance in the second half so Rangers will have a battle on their hands. The two sides have already squared up five times against each other this season and have played some feisty encounters. So we expect nothing less this time as well.
Team News
Graham Dorrans and Jamie Murphy are the two major injury concerns for Gerrard. Apart from that, the manager has a strong squad to choose from here.
Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Aberdeen
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Allan McGregor is going to keep his place in between the sticks. There is no doubt now that Connor Goldson and Joe Worrall are the first choice centre back partnership. Worrall has put in some impressive performances of late, and the gaffer would hope that the duo doesn’t commit any major blunders in defence.
James Tavernier should start in his usual right-back spot. We would like to see Andy Halliday start over Borna Barisic as the Croatian has struggled to turn up in the last few games.
Midfield
Ross McCrorie has missed out in the last few ties because of the emergence of Glen Kamara. However, we feel that his work rate and tenacity can make a huge difference in a clash like this and he should start in the deepest role in midfield.
Glen Kamara is yet to put in a bad performance since his debut, and we don’t see Gerrard dropping him. Therefore the former Arsenal player should continue in midfield. Scott Arfield is expected to begin in a box to box role. Ryan Jack misses out in midfield.
Out wide, Ryan Kent remains a crucial asset for Gerrard on the left. However, he needs to deliver the final product to be counted in games of this nature. Daniel Candeias is once again expected to start from the right.
Attack
Alfredo Morelos blew hot and cold in the clash against the Hibs during the weekend. Gerrard would hope that the Colombian can be more clinical in front of goal as this is probably Rangers’ biggest game of the season so far.
