Javier Mascherano has signed a new contract with Barcelona that will keep him at the club till 2019. The 32-year-old defender earlier agreed to new terms in July and signed on the dotted line in presence of Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu, Sporting Vice President Jordi Mestre and Technical Secretary Robert Fernández.
The Veteran defender was signed from Liverpool in 2010 and since then has won 17 trophies during his stint at the Nou Camp. A Barcelona statement read, “Javier Mascherano put pen to paper on his improved contract extension with FC Barcelona, a deal that will keep him at the Club until 30 June 2019. “
The Argentine who played 290 games for The Catalans has made it clear that this will be his last contract with the club. “This will be my last contract here, I can tell you that.
“I hope I am remembered as a good person, and to be able to go back to Barcelona in 15 years and say hello to the fans, to have the doors open at a place I have been for so long.
