Arsenal are reportedly keeping a tab on As Roma defender Kostas Manolas. The defender has rejected Roma’s new offer.
Signed from Olympiacos in 2014, the 25 year old defender has been constant in the Roma backline. Manolas is currently on a £34,000-a-week deal and wants a hefty pay rise to his current wage. The Giallorossi did offer him an improved deal worth £2.2 m a season but the defender is not happy with that.
Arsenal have recently signed Shkodran Mustafi and the defender has acclimatised himself beautifully in the heart of The Gunners defence. He, along with Laurent Koscielny, forms a formidable defensive pair that has conceded only nine goals this season. Per Mertesacker has been injured for a long time and Rob Holding is too young for the Premier League.
The Greek defender has an outstanding 89% passing accuracy in this season and Wenger would love to have him at The Emirates.
Chelsea is also monitoring the player’s movement as they are in need of a defender.
