Chelsea will play hosts to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon looking to continue their two-match winning run in the Premier League. The Pensioners are in a good run of form and will fancy their chances against the Wolves defence this weekend.
However, the away side won’t be any push-overs as evidenced by their famous away win at Tottenham Hotspur back in December last year. Maurizio Sarri is expected to opt for a 4-3-3 formation and might start with Marcos Alonso on the left flank.
4-3-3 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga should get the nod to start this game despite falling out with his manager in the recent past. The Spanish keeper will be protected by the defensive duo of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger as they resume their duties at the centre of the Chelsea defence. Both Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso will operate as the full-backs and will look to cause a few problems down the wide areas.
Emerson Palmieri could find himself in Sari’s bench once again for this match.
The Pensioners have improved a lot defensively over the past week and will fancy their chances of keeping things tight at the back on Sunday. However, it won’t be easy as they will come up against an in-form Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota.
Midfield
The trio of Ross Barkley, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante should operate at the middle of the park as they look to establish Chelsea’s dominance in midfield.
Jorginho will need to have a good game if Sarri’s team are to come away with a positive result from this match. Mateo Kovacic could be available on the bench and might come on during the clash if required.
Attack
Sarri would likely deploy both Eden Hazard and Willian down the wide areas as they look to feed some decent balls into Gonzalo Higuain’s feet (or head) up top. The Argentine forward needs to score soon so that he can regain some confidence heading into the business end of the campaign.
Pedro should be available on the bench and might come out during the encounter if needed.
