Neil Lennon will finally be managing his first home game as Celtic will take on Aberdeen this weekend. The Dons have drifted off in the past few game weeks and are a distant third at the moment as they are 8 points behind Rangers who in turn are again 8 points behind Celtic.
Therefore, in terms of an effect on the table, any result wouldn’t change much, but Lennon would be keen to showcase his worth to emerge as a top candidate for the job in the summer. Aberdeen are coming on the back of a draw against Rangers where they could have won that game on another day. So we can expect an evenly matched encounter between the two sides.
Team News
Neil Lennon has taken over amidst an injury crisis as the likes of Tom Rogic, Filip Benkovic, Ryan Christie, Jozo Simunovic, Olivier Ntcham, Callum McGregor and Anthony Ralston are likely to be unavailable once again. Eboue Kouassi and Daniel Arzani are long term absentees.
Celtic predicted lineup Vs Aberdeen
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
It’s clear that even Neil Lennon is set to prefer Scott Bain in goal. Therefore, the former Dundee goalkeeper should start once again in between the sticks. Dedryck Boyata has put in some top-notch performances off late, and the Belgian is set to start in the heart of the defence. Kristoffer Ajer should partner him at the back with Benkovic and Simunovic missing.
Jeremy Toljan should come back in the lineup against the Dons as the right back. Kieran Tierney is slowly getting back to his best after the long term injury lay off. He should start on the left side of the defence.
Midfield
Scott Brown is a nailed on a starter in the middle of the park, and he has put in some influential performances off late. Nir Bitton has filled in well for the injured players, and he is likely to partner his captain in midfield.
Oliver Burke should get the nod to start in the no. 10 position. Ewan Henderson is also a strong contender to start in that role, but Burke’s dynamism and acceleration make him a more threatening option. James Forrest is expected to operate from the right once again. Scott Sinclair should occupy the left flank.
Attack
Odsonne Edouard has had a stop-start season so far as he missed quite a few games this season due to injury. However, he would be looking to end the season on a high, and he is expected to lead the line for his side.
