According to The Leicester Mercury, Leicester City has been heavily linked with the Rangers hotshot Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian ace has taken the Scottish Premiership by storm this season and has been one of the best strikers in the league with 28 goals from 46 games so far.
The player is reportedly being eyed by a number of big name clubs from all over Europe including Borussia Dortmund. This indicates that Leicester City would have to face a significant obstacle in their pursuit of the Colombian star. However, with former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers now at the helm of their club, the Foxes would be even more determined to land the Rangers ace next summer.
Rodgers, during his time at Celtic, has had a good look at the prime weapon of Rangers and could use him in the best way possible. So if they can land Morelos, the Foxes could be hopeful of getting the most out of El Bufalo.
It has not been a good campaign in terms of goal-scoring for the former Premier League champions as far as this season is concerned. Jamie Vardy was the only one to reach the double figure mark, having scored ten goals so far. The likes of Demarai Gray and Kelechi Iheanacho have not been able to play according to their potential, which has made things problematic for the Foxes up front.
On the other hand, Rangers enjoyed a fruitful season as far as their domestic form is concerned. One of the most significant factor for their success has been the brilliant form of Morelos. He led the line with absolute precision and looked to take on the opposition defence without any fear and score goals at will, which has reportedly attracted the attention of his former rival club manager.
With Vardy already in his thirties, it is the right time for the Foxes to look for a viable replacement for the former England international. Kelechi Iheanacho and Demarai Gray have had enough chances to prove their mettle and have failed to capitalise on them. So, the stage is set for Rodgers to bring in the 22-year-old Colombian marksman and get the best out of him.
The fact that the player has no prior experience of leading the line for any Premier League club so far might be a detriment for him to become a hit at Leicester City. Also, the less spoken about his disciplinary issues, the better. However, given his ability to turn the half chances into goals combined with his immense physicality to take on even the sturdiest of defenders; it might not be a bad ploy for the former Celtic manager to get the Rangers striker at the King Power Stadium next summer in a bid to rebuild the Leicester City attack for the future.
