Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has strongly warned his club against selling young defender Hector Bellerin. According to Sky Sports, Manchester City and Barcelona have now been an admirer of the player for a long time, who has immensely impressed since getting into the Arsenal lineup early last season.
Bellerin’s powerful attribute is his pace on and off the ball, which can be a great asset for any club. Time and again last season, Arsenal has found the back line opened by the opponent, when Bellerin’s pace has been instrumental to fall back and intercept. His skills have given a different dimension to Wenger’s style play up front.
It is due to this pace that Guardiola has eyes on the Spaniard, who could fit in his wing play. As far as Barcelona is concerned, after the departure of Dani Alves, they have not been able to find any replacement for the Brazilian. Sergi has done a decent enough job, but they need another good player in that position.
The young Spaniard has continued his form this season providing excellent link up play with Walcott down the right flank, from where most of Arsenal’s attacks have come. At the moment, Bellerin’s case looks increasing like that of Cesc Fabregas, who had joined Arsenal from FC Barcelona’s youth system in hope to get a first team chance and returned to his home club later.
Arsenal has been highly criticised for not being able to keep hold of their star players despite being a top club, which has repeatedly qualified for the Champions League for more than a decade. Players like Fabregas, Nasri, Sagna, Hleb, Van Persie, all have left the club at their prime time giving a severe blow to the club’s title ambitions.
Hence, Cazorla might be absolutely right when he is warning the club to be more persistent in their keeping players. There have also been rumours of their star midfielder Mesut Ozil moving away from the Emirates, whom the Gunners had bought for 42 million pounds from Real Madrid.
Bellerín started his club football career in the youth teams of FC Barcelona. He moved to Arsenal in the summer of 2011 and signed his first professional contract with the club in July 2013. It was owing to injuries to first team players at the back like Debuchy, Chambers and Monreal that Bellerin broke into the first team.
At the international level too he has got an assist recently with Spain’s U-21 squad and could soon break into the first team. One of Bellerin’s achievements has also been his inclusion in the Premier league PFA team of the year 2015-16.
