According to a recent report by Tuttosport, Liverpool are interested in securing the services of Real Madrid midfielder Isco in the summer. The same source has also revealed that the Reds could face stiff competition from Manchester United in pursuit of the Spanish playmaker at the end of this campaign.
Isco has been a sporadic feature for Los Blancos during this campaign and has fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Gareth Bale, Vinícius Júnior, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vasquez. The Spaniard could do with a change in scenery if he wants to play regular first-team football next season.
The 26-year-old has been highly successful during his time so far at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium since completing a switch from Malaga in the summer of 2013. Isco has gone on to win the UEFA Champions League four times while also having a La Liga winners’ medal in his trophy cabinet as well.
There is no doubt that he is a winner on the pitch so Jurgen Klopp’s side could benefit from acquiring his talents next summer as he could be the creative force in the Reds midfield similar to how Phillipe Coutinho operated during his time at Anfield.
The Benalmadena born talent has featured in 26 matches for the Galacticos this term, scoring four times while grabbing one assist in all competitions. However, his recent form has been horrendous as he has failed to provide a goal or an assist in his last eight appearances for the Spanish giants.
The Madrid prospect has also secured 36 international caps for the Spanish national side and has 12 goals to his name for his nation. The La Liga star has tremendous ball control which allows him to dribble with the ball down the flanks and cause a few problems for the opposition defenders. He can also play a decisive pass in the final third which could help Liverpool in their quest of winning some silverware in the coming years.
Isco’s acquisition could prove to be a clever bit of business for Klopp as he is precisely the type of talent who can come in and help the Reds get over the final hurdle in their relentless hunt to win trophies. He will be a fantastic addition to the Reds squad who will also increase competition for places at the Merseyside club.
