Manchester United will clash heads with PSG in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixture after losing the first leg at Old Trafford by a 2-0 scoreline. The Red Devils will now have a mountain to climb in their quest to overturn the two-goal deficit, but it won’t be easy in what is expected to be a full house at Parc des Princes.
Ole Gunnar Solkjaer is expected to stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation for this European encounter away at Paris.
4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Paris Saint-Germain
Defence
David De Gea will start in goal despite conceding two goals against Southampton last weekend. The Spanish goalie can expect another tough outing away at PSG on Wednesday night.
The centre-back duo of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof should continue to feature at the heart of the Red Devils backline. They have to be at their best if the away side are to make a comeback in this tie. Both Ashley Young and Luke Shaw will resume their roles as the full-backs on either side of the Man United defence.
Phil Jones is a doubt for this game so he might be a part of Solkjaer’s bench in midweek. Anything other than a clean sheet will make it increasingly difficult for United to progress into the quarter-finals. Hence, their back four needs to stay compact and try to keep the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria quiet on the night.
Midfield
The Mancunian outfit might lineup with a midfield comprised of Fred, Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira. Paul Pogba is suspended for this game after he was handed a red card in the first leg against PSG last month. Solskjær will also be without the services of Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard as they remain sidelined with serious injuries.
Attack
Marcus Rashford will start down the left flank as he looks to drift in and cause a few problems for Thomas Tuchel’s defenders. Solkjaer might opt to start Diogo Dalot in an advanced role down the right wing after his impressive cameo off the bench versus the Saints on Saturday.
Both Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial won’t feature in this game as they are still spending time on the treatment table.
