According to The Mirror, Manchester United are in hot pursuit of the English sensation Jadon Sancho. The whizkid is currently plying his trade at the German outfit Borussia Dortmund, playing a significant role in getting them to the top of the league table in the Bundesliga. The former Manchester City player has been a revelation in the Bundesliga this season so far and has also attracted the attention of some big-name clubs including the Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain, who are ready to vie with Manchester United to secure his signature next summer.
The season did not start as expected for the Red Devils, and they had to go through a lot of turmoil with the poor performance of their players under former manager Jose Mourinho. However, interim gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has completely transformed the team since taking over the reins. Manchester United are yet to lose a match in the Premier League with the Norweigan manager at their helm, and they are looking to end the season among the top four clubs.
The addition of a player like Sancho would always be a welcome one for any top-flight side, and Manchester United should be more than happy to have him in their squad in the next term. The report says that the player has a price tag worth £100m on him, but Manchester United are ready to spend big and get the Englishman to Old Trafford.
Solskjaer has had the facility of rotating his options this season and has done that tactfully to keep his side re-energised and ready for every challenge. However, not every player has looked in their best form, with Alexis Sanchez being one of those who has severely underperformed this season. Sancho could come into the side as a replacement for the Chilean winger and could light up Old Trafford with his pace and accuracy.
The former Manchester City player, who left the Etihad Stadium to get more first-team opportunities in 2017, has made his presence felt in the Bundesliga since his arrival at Dortmund. He has been a regular in the first team of the German outfit and has scored nine goals so far this term. He has also been a terrific team player and has dished out 14 assists so far this season.
It is evident that Solskjaer has done exceedingly well with his current crop of players in the Premier League. However, he should look towards the future as well and build a squad which could compete at not only the Premier League level but also the European stages. The inclusion of Sancho could well be a big step in that direction and Manchester United should be ready to splash the cash for the sensational 18-year-old.
Solskjaer already has a lot of quality in his side with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard performing consistently. If he can add Sancho to the team, it could turn out to be one of the best young squads with a lot of potential for the future. It would be a step in the right direction for sure for the Red Devils.
