According to a recent report by the Express, as mentioned in the Mirror, Arsenal have reignited their interest for DL Yifand winger Yannick Carrasco ahead of a potential move in the summer.
The same source has also revealed that the Gunners had narrowly missed out on recruiting the Belgian prospect in the deadline of the January transfer window when they couldn’t agree on a loan fee for the player. However, the Mirror has now claimed that Unai Emery will likely have more funds available to him at the end of this campaign which could help his team in their pursuit of the Chinese Super League playmaker.
The 25-year-old sensation has made a positive impression in China ever since joining Dalian Yifang from Atletico Madrid at the beginning of 2018. The Belgian international went on to feature in 25 league matches for them last season, registering his name on the scoresheet on seven occasions while creating nine assists. He has also secured 34 international caps for his nation and has found the back of the net five times during his international career.
There is no doubt that Carrasco can still be quite a productive player in Europe. The Belgian talent made a name for himself under Diego Simeone during his time at the Spanish capital. However, the time away from top-flight European football might have derailed his overall career which will be a cause for concern in the long-run.
When he is playing with confidence on the pitch, Carrasco can be a difficult player to stop as he boasts incredible pace which helps him dribble with the ball out of tight positions. The Ixelles born player is also quite versatile as he can operate on multiple positions across the frontline, although, he primarily likes to play as a left winger.
The addition of a player like Carrasco will undoubtedly bolster Unai Emery’s attacking options at the North London club. With Mesut Ozil being used sporadically this season, the Gunners manager could benefit from having the Belgian sensation in his squad. He can be another creative force for the North London outfit in the attacking third of the pitch. Moreover, Arsenal does not have too many natural wingers in their squad other than Alex Iwobi.
Hence, Carrasco could prove to be a smart signing for Emery if he can convince him to make a switch to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
