According to Dutch news outlet De Telegraph, West Ham United have shown interest in the Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana. The 22-year-old custodian is known to be one of the finest in the business at the moment, and it would be a brilliant piece of business if the Hammers can land him next summer.
West Ham United started their season disastrously but have turned their fortunes around with some diligent displays to reach the top half in the league table. The fight they have put up despite being bogged down by a number of injury worries this season is commendable, and they would hope to continue in the same way as the season progresses.
A number of their players, especially goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, has been in decent form this season. However, with the Polish custodian not getting any younger, the Hammers should look to bring in a viable replacement for him and Onana could be the perfect option to solve their problem. The La Masia Academy graduate is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in Europe at the moment and would be an excellent addition to the West Ham United squad.

His performances with the gloves for Ajax has earned him rave reviews from a number of experts from all over Europe and has attracted the attention of big-name clubs likes Arsenal and Tottenham along with the La Liga champions Barcelona.
It is evident that West Ham United would face heavy competition in their pursuit to land the Nigerian international and they should step up in their effort to bring him to the London Stadium next summer. Though Fabianski seemingly has a couple of seasons left in him at the top flight, Manuel Pellegrini needs to look towards the future and secure the signing of one of the best defensive talents in Europe.
This season the Hammers look nowhere near securing a place in the European competitions, and the inclusion of Onana would be a massive reflection of their intent to compete at the highest level in Europe over the next few seasons. So a move for the Ajax defensive ace could be a step in the right direction for Pellegrini’s team next summer.
