According to a recent report by the Sun, Manchester United centre-forward wants to make a switch to Juventus if he is forced out of Old Trafford next summer.
The Belgian striker is currently playing second fiddle to Marcus Rashford but got a rare start to prove his worth against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night. He passed the test with flying colours as he helped the Red Devils secure a comfortable 3-1 win at Selhurst Park.
However, the Sun has now claimed that the former Everton striker will try and look to orchestrate a move to Turin if he is told that he is surplus to requirements at the red half of Manchester in the summer. Lukaku has struggled to get game time at Man United this season especially after the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjær back in December last year.
The Belgian talent has still managed to feature in 35 matches for the Mancunian outfit this term, finding the back of the net 11 times while also grabbing four assists across all competitions. His goal-scoring record this season has not been poor by any means. However, the 25-year-old needs to be more involved in the attacking end of the pitch if he wants to feature regularly for Man United under Solskjær’s tutelage.
Lukaku is blessed with incredible strength and also has the power to get past his marker inside the opposition box. Although, his finishing has sometimes flattered to deceive this season, yet he can still be a prolific goal-getter when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. However, the Belgian needs to work at being more consistent in the final third or else he might not be able to fulfil his real potential.
The truth is that Lukaku is not seen as a forward who fits Man United’s style of play at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have a history of signing strikers who are more agile and prolific than Lukaku so maybe moving him on next summer might be a good move for all parties. The Belgian will benefit from playing more football and being the centre-piece of Massimiliano Allegri’s revolution in the Serie A.
Juve can also use a player of Lukaku’s ability as they look to ease Cristiano Ronaldo’s work-load up top. Moreover, United can use the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of their squad. A win-win probably in our opinion.
