Manchester City will face off against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon hoping to win their first silverware of this campaign. The Citizens are aiming to win the quadruple this season, so this would be an ideal opportunity for them to put a trophy in the bag which might give them the confidence to push on and challenge on all fronts in the coming months.
However, the Pensioners are currently a wounded animal under Maurizio Sarri after they put in a string of disappointing performances on the pitch in recent weeks. Hence, it’s high time they got their act together, and there would be no better place to do so than in a cup final.
Sarri would know that he can turn his fortunes around at Stamford Bridge for the better if he can get a win over Guardiola this weekend. Hence, we can expect a highly entertaining contest between two teams eager to do well for their fans.
Man City will probably lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with Guardiola opting to play a strong side in the Carabao Cup final.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Arijanet Muric will start in between the sticks for the Blues of Manchester on Sunday afternoon as Guardiola has used him only in the Carabao Cup matches. Ederson will sit as a back-up on the Man City bench as he is given a well-deserved rest.
The centre-half duo of Aymeric Laporte and Nicholas Otamendi might be deployed at the heart of the Citizens backline as they look to cope with Gonzalo Higuain’s threat on Sunday.
Oleksandr Zinchenko might get the nod to impress at left-back while Kyle Walker looks to use his blistering pace and agility on the right side of Guardiola’s defence.
Midfield
The Mancunian outfit might start with the midfield three of Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva as they try to retain possession for Man City at the centre of the pitch. Phil Foden could play some part in this match from the bench, but Guardiola might not risk starting him in such a big game.
Attack
The Citizens frontline would be comprised of Sergio Aguero leading the charge up top while Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane look to stretch the pitch down the wide areas. All three of them are in a good run of form and will fancy their chances of finding the back of the net against a leaky Chelsea defence on Sunday.
