Rangers will play hosts to Kilmarnock at the Ibrox Stadium on Wednesday night looking to return to winning ways after two back to back scoreless draws in their past two outings. The Gers failed to beat the Killie away from home last week which means that both teams will have to play a replay this week to decide which team advances into the next round of the Scottish Cup.
Steven Gerrard might opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to start with Alfredo Morelos up top.
4-3-3 Rangers Predicted Lineup To Face Kilmarnock
Defence
Allan McGregor should get the nod to start in between the sticks for the Gers while Wes Foderingham would have to play second fiddle on Gerrard’s bench. The centre-back pairing of Connor Goldson and Joe Worrall will continue at the centre of the Rangers defence after they secured two successive clean sheets in a row. Borna Barisic will begin the contest at left-back while James Tavernier takes up the right-back duties on the other side.
Andy Halliday will be available on the bench and might come on during the encounter if required.
Gerrard’s defenders managed to keep a shut-out in their previous meeting with the Killie so the defenders would hope that they can replicate a similar performance in the Scottish Cup fifth-round replay on Wednesday night.
Midfield
The trio of Glen Kamara, Ross McCrorie and Steven Davis could start in the middle of the field. The Gers fans would hope that their midfielders can put in a solid performance so that the home side can establish their dominance in midfield. All three of them know their roles in Gerrard’s first-team and would be expected to carry out their responsibilities effectively at the Ibrox.
Attack
The Gers front three would consist of Ryan Kent and Daniel Candeias providing width on the flanks while Alfredo Morelos leads the line on his own for the Glaswegian outfit up front. Gerrard’s side has failed to score a goal in any of their past two matches across all competitions so the Gers would need to have their shooting boots on if they are to stop that run against the Killie in midweek.
