It was an entertaining contest at the Pittodrie as Rangers took on Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership. The Gers started the match well, and they were on their way with two goals from Alfredo Morelos and one from James Tavernier in the first half itself. The Dons came back strongly in the match with two goals on either side of the halftime; both scored by Sam Cosgrove. However, Jermain Defoe sealed the game for Steven Gerrard’s team with a goal in the stoppage time.
Here is how the Rangers players were rated from their important win against Aberdeen.
Allan McGregor: 6
Did well to make some crucial saves, especially towards the end of the match. Could have done better to stop Sam Cosgrove from scoring the first goal though.
James Tavernier: 7
Ran up and down the pitch well and initiated attacks with his accurate passes. Slotted it past the Aberdeen goalie to make it 3-1 for his side.
Joe Worrall: 6
Not his best performance as he let Cosgrove take a free shot on goal for the striker’s first goal of the match. Did well in the second half to keep him under check.
Connor Goldson: 6
A solid and composed performance from the Englishman. Looked a bit fatigued in the second half though.
Borna Barisic: 7
Put in a substantial shift in the left back position. Looked equally good both on the attacking and defensive side.
Ross McCrorie: 6
Went into the tackles fearlessly. Inaccurate with his passing though.
Ryan Jack: 7
Superb agility in the midfield as he kept darting into the danger area and created a lot of space for taking shots on the Aberdeen goal.
Scott Arfield: 6
Had a calming influence over his side as he kept possession of the ball.
Daniel Candeias: 6
Kept getting into the box on a number of occasions but could not get the shots away.
Ryan Kent: 7
His darting runs down the pitch were too good for the Aberdeen defence. Supplied the ball into the box to create an opening for Morelos as the Colombian complied with his second goal of the match.
Alfredo Morelos: 8
Took two superbly timed shots to get his side in the lead in the first half. Needs to have a check on his temper which got him sent off again after he kicked out at Scott McKenna.
Substitutes
Jermain Defoe: 7
Kept tormenting the defence with his bag of tricks and shot-making. Got his reward in the 94th minute as he put the ball in the back of the net to bring his side back in the title race.
Nikola Katic: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
Lassana Coulibaly: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
