Wolverhampton Wanderers will play hosts to Shrewsbury Town at the Molineaux Stadium tonight looking to secure a place into the next round of the FA Cup with a victory. The Premier League outfit failed to see off the challenge of the Shrews away at the Montgomery Waters Meadow last month as the match ended with a final scoreline of 2-2.
Both teams would fancy their chances this week especially if Nuno Espirito Santo decides to rest some of his first-team stars in midweek. The home side will line up in a 3-5-2 formation with Helder Costa and Adama Traore expected to spearhead the Wolves attack.
3-5-2 Wolves Predicted Lineup To Face Shrewsbury Town
Defence
The Portuguese international, Rui Patricio could be rested in midweek so John Ruddy might get a rare start in between the sticks for the home side. Nuno Santo might opt for a back three of Ryan Bennett, Conor Coady and Roman Saiss as they aim to keep a clean sheet against Shrewsbury Town tonight.
All three of them struggled to cope with the threat of the Shrews attackers last month, so this will be another chance for them to make amends and come back with a strong performance this week.
Midfield
Wolves could line up with the midfield three of Leander Dendoncker, Joao Moutinho and Morgan Gibbs-White as they look to establish the West Midlands outfit’s dominance at the centre of the park. Matt Doherty will continue to feature as the right wing-back while the youngster, Ruben Vinagre might get another start on the left flank.
It will be up to the Wolves midfield five to put on a good showing on Tuesday so that they can secure a passage through to the next round of the FA Cup. Both Jonny Otto and Ruben Neves could be a part of the Wolves bench this week as they look to come on and make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
The dynamic attacking pair of Helder Costa and Adama Traore will lead the line for the home team up top. They struggled to develop a productive partnership away at Shrewsbury Town last month so Nuno Santo would hope that the striking duo can work well together and score a few goals at the Molineaux this time around.
Raul Jiminez and Diogo Jota might get a chance to come off the bench and make an impact during the latter stages of the contest if called upon.
