Liverpool will travel to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United who are on a wretched run of form at the moment. With this being a Monday night kickoff, Liverpool can go into this game just two points ahead of Manchester City if the Mancunians giants get the job done at the Etihad against Arsenal. Therefore anything other than a win for the away side could bring City right back into the title race.
The Reds met the Hammers during the first week of the season and they dismantled them 4-0. Pellegrini’s side have improved leaps and bounds since then, but the Merseyside club would go in as the absolute favourites to take away all three points from this tie.
Team News
Trent Alexander Arnold and Joe Gomez are going to be unavailable. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is back in training but he could still be a month away from getting back in the matchday squad. James Milner should be available for selection after he served his suspension.
Liverpool Predicted Lineup Vs West Ham United
Formation (4-3-3)
Defence
Alisson Becker is a nailed on starter in goal for the Reds. Klopp is likely to go in with the centre back pairing of Joel Matip and Virgil Van Dijk. Dejan Lovren is back fit, but he is expected only to make the bench. Andy Robertson has been the most consistent performer for the Merseyside club this season. He is set to play in his usual left-back role. After Jordan Henderson filled in as a right back against the Foxes, James Milner is likely to replace him for that role in this game.
Midfield
Fabinho should definitely start in the deepest role in midfield. The Brazilian reads the game brilliantly and is a lot more effective on the ball as well. Georginio Wijnaldum is also likely to start in the middle of the park. His robustness and work rate has been impressive this season. It could be touch and go between Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson for the other midfielder’s spot. Keita has been far from impressive in the last few games, and the manager might trust Henderson to play in the middle of the park.
Attack
Sadio Mane has blown hot and cold throughout the season, but he remains an essential player in Jurgen Klopp’s setup. He is expected to start from the left. Roberto Firmino is likely to start from the middle, but he is expected to drift everywhere across the pitch and would often take the role of a playmaker. Mohamed Salah is going to start from the right flank but would often occupy a central position and play as the furthest man up front.
