Everton will clash heads with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon hoping to build on their recent success against Huddersfield Town in midweek. The Toffees managed to grind out a 1-0 win despite going down to 10-men after Lucas Digne was given his marching orders in the second half.
Marco Silva will hope for an even better performance versus their West Midlands opponents this weekend as the Merseyside club still has a chance to claim a strong top 7 finish in the Premier League.
The home team are expected to set-up in a 4-2-3-1 with Leighton Baines likely to feature as the left-back versus Wolves.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Jordan Pickford will take his place in goal for the Toffees while Maarten Stekelenburg has to settle for a spot on Marco Silva’s bench yet again. The centre-half pair of Michael Keane and Kurt Zouma could lineup at the centre of the Everton defence after they managed to keep a clean sheet against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night.
Leighton Baines will be handed another start at left-back if he can recover in time for this clash against Wolves. The English full-back should get the nod this weekend as Lucas Digne received a straight red card against the Terriers in midweek which means that he will be suspended for this tie.
Seamus Coleman might be asked to operate as the right-back as he looks to put in another solid shift for the Toffees. Marco Silva’s men would be up against one of the most in-form forwards of the Premier League in Raul Jimenez so it won’t be easy for them to restrict Wolves from scoring this Saturday.
Midfield
Tom Davies will resume his duties as a holding midfielder alongside Andre Gomes as they try to establish Everton’s dominance at the middle of the pitch. The terrific trio of Bernard, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Richarlison could play ahead of them as part of Marco Silva’s attack.
Both Sigurðsson and Richarlison have managed to find the back of the net in recent matches which should give them some confidence heading into this league encounter versus Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.
Attack
Cenk Tosun will lead the line for the Merseyside outfit up top. The Turkish forward is yet to fire on all cylinders for Everton this season, so this game will be another opportunity for him to showcase what he is capable of inside the opposition penalty box.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin might come off the bench to make an impact in the second half if required.
