Middlesbrough are looking to do some last minute business in the transfer window as they have been linked (Gazette Live) with Hull City’s winger Kamil Grosicki. The Polish international is also a target for Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.
It is clear that Tony Pulis wants to bolster his attacking options in the last few hours of the transfer window. His team has slightly gone off the boil in the past month as they are currently occupying the fifth spot.
It would be interesting to see whether the Tigers would do business for one of their key players as not too long ago, Hull’s owners released a statement which said, ‘’ No intention of selling key players.’’
Grosicki is definitely one of the most important members of the Tigers’ lineup, and there is no doubt that Nigel Adkins would want to keep hold of him. The 30-year-old has four goals and six assists to his name in 22 Championship appearances this season and the Polish winger has played a major role in his side’s surprise playoff push in the past month or so.
His form and experience have been noted by the Teessiders and Boro had identified him as one of the potential targets this month. Now it seems like the club is looking for a late swoop for Grosicki.
Boro might have the best defensive record in the league by quite some margin, but they are the least scoring side among the top 19 clubs in the Championship. The defensive record is no surprise given that their manager Pulis is known to organise his teams well and drill them to produce defensive masterclass week in week out. However, lack of goals have seen them slip from the direct promotion spot in the last few months, and it is clear that the manager wants to add that firepower up front to bolster his attack.
The club has already signed Huddersfield winger Rajiv Van La Parra on loan. But there is no doubt that signing Grosicki would be a massive coup for the Teessiders. The winger has represented his country 64 times and an experienced head like him can do wonders in the latter half of the season.
His pace and dribbling skills are a treat to watch and more often than not he can be the difference maker for Hull in the final third. Signing him would be tough as he is an established member of the first team so Boro would have to move in quick in the remaining few hours of the transfer window if they want to land Grosicki.
