According to a recent report by Football.London, Arsenal are hoping to make a late move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Christopher Nkunku before the transfer window closes next week.
The same report has also claimed that the Gunners are looking to bring the French talent to the Emirates Stadium during this January transfer window as Unai Emery believes that his versatility could help his team and has also identified him as a long-term replacement for Aaron Ramsey.
Nkunku primarily operates as a central midfielder but can also play on either flank which makes him such a useful asset for PSG. The 21-year-old has been a good squad player under Thomas Tuchel this season and has put in some eye-catching performances at the French capital during this campaign.
He came through the youth ranks of PSG before finally breaking into the French outfit’s first-team back in 2015. The Lagny-Sur-Marne born wonderkid has featured in 16 matches for the Ligue 1 giants this term, scoring two goals while providing one assist across multiple competitions. He has also represented France at various youth levels and could play a major role for the French national team in the coming years if he can fulfil his true potential.
Nkunku is all-around midfield prospect who has no such weaknesses in his game. The Ligue 1 talent is moderately paced but is a good dribbler with the ball down the wide areas. He also has an eye for a key pass and can score goals from midfield as well.
His potential acquisition could help Emery cope with random injuries better for the remainder of this campaign. Moreover, Nkunku will also add some much-needed quality and depth to the Arsenal midfield which the Gunners fans were hoping to see their side address during this window.
The North London outfit are in with a real chance to finish in one of the top 4 spots at the end of this season so a player like Nkunku will undoubtedly give their squad a huge boost ahead of a busy few months in the Premier League. The French starlet can also come into Emery’s team and soften the blow of losing Ramsey next summer when the Welshman will seal a move to Juventus on a free transfer.
