According to a recent report by the Express, Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has refused to rule out a move back to Liverpool. In a recent interview with German football magazine 11FREUNDE, as mentioned by the Express, the Uruguayan international shared his feelings for his former club and said, “Anyone who has ever played in Liverpool remains connected to the club for a lifetime,”
“The team plays terrific football and I am very interested in how they will do this year. I think we can still be prepared for a lot.”
“Currently we work for two different clubs so that’s not an issue for me at the moment,”
“But sure every player would like to train under Jurgen Klopp.”
Anyone associated with Liverpool FC would appreciate Suarez’s recent words, but it might also throw some doubt over his long-term future at the Nou Camp. His comments could easily be interpreted as a ‘come and get me plea’ to Jurgen Klopp. However, there have been no reports regarding the Reds’ interest on the player so we should take his recent comments with a pinch of salt.
The 32-year-old has enjoyed a productive season with the Catalans so far after he scored 15 goals and grabbed seven assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
Since making a switch from Liverpool in the summer of 2014, the Uruguayan international has gone on to win the La Liga thrice while also earning a UEFA Champions League winner’s medal with Barca. At 32, Suarez is not getting any younger so he could welcome a chance to move back to Anfield to win a major trophy at Liverpool.
The Reds boss can be considered as one of the best man-managers in European football so it is no surprise that a player of Suarez’s quality wants to work with him. Moreover, the English giants can also benefit from bringing the Uruguayan back to the red half of Merseyside as he still has a few years left in him to play at a high level which Liverpool can benefit from in the coming years.
If there is a chance for Klopp’s team to orchestrate a deal with the Catalans over a potential transfer for Suarez, then it is a move well-worth pursuing.
