According to a recent report by Gazzetta Dello Sport, Manchester United have made ‘exploratory surveys’ and ‘concrete movements’ with regards to their interest in securing the services of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. However, the same report has also revealed that the Red Devils are yet to make an official offer for the Croatia international.
The former Borussia Dortmund talent has already put in some quality performances down the left side of the Inter Milan frontline which clearly shows that he is capable of producing the goods at the highest level. The 29-year-old has made 25 appearances for Luciano Spalletti’s side this term, scoring three goals while grabbing five assists across all competitions.
He is also vastly experienced at the international level having featured in 78 matches for the Croatia national team while scoring 22 goals during that time. Perisic’s incredible contributions has helped his country make it through to the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup where they eventually lost to France with a 4-2 scoreline.
At 29, the Inter winger’s next move could be the last big switch of his career so a potential move to Manchester United might be too enticing for the player to turn down. Having said that, there will be a lot of competition for places, so Perisic won’t be a guaranteed starter at the red half of Manchester.
The addition of a player of Perisic’s experience and quality will undoubtedly bolster United’s attacking options at the Theatre of Dreams. Ole Gunnar Solskjær has currently got a whole host of talented wingers at his disposal such as Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial. Both Rashford and Martial seems to have rediscovered their goal-scoring touch after Solskjær’s arrival but only time will tell whether they can continue their good form in the second half of this campaign.
Perisic will increase competition within the United squad and will also add a lot of goals and assists from the wide areas if he ends up making a switch to Man United in the coming months. Inter can also move on by bringing in a much younger replacement for the 2018 FIFA World Cup finalist so it may just be a move that will benefit all parties.
