According to a recent report by the Mirror, Arsenal have reached out to the representatives of AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo to talk about a potential transfer next summer. The same report has also claimed that the Gunners have sent scouts who were so impressed that they asked the Italian club for a “detailed report” on the Italian starlet.
The 19-year-old has put in some impressive displays for Roma during the course of this campaign. Since his move from Inter Milan last summer, Zaniolo has proven his worth in the Serie A after making 11 appearances in the league for Eusebio Di Francesco’s team and scoring two goals in the process.
He has also featured in 5 matches in the UEFA Champions League and has helped his side secure a passage through to the knockout phases of the competition where they will face off against FC Porto next month.
Zaniolo can be considered as one of the most promising young talents in European football so it would be a fantastic acquisition for the Gunners if they can somehow manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
The Italian wonderkid primarily plays in the number 10 position due to his ability to dribble with the ball and score goals from both inside and outside the opposition penalty box. Moreover, Zaniolo is also physically strong, so he won’t have too much headache adapting to life in the Premier League.
The addition of someone of the Italian’s massive potential will undoubtedly bolster Unai Emery’s attacking options at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are set to lose Aaron Ramsey next summer as he will probably join Juventus. In such an instance, Zaniolo could potentially be a much younger replacement for the Welshman. He is more than capable of holding his own place in the Gunners first-team especially with Mesut Ozil currently out of favour at North London.
At 19, the Italy Under-21 international still has a lot of time to improve his game and fulfill his true potential which means a move to Arsenal to work under Emery might be too good of an opportunity for him to turn down next summer.
