According to a recent report by the Times, as mentioned by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City are prepared to step up their efforts to secure the services of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace at the end of this campaign.
However, the same report has also claimed that the Citizens would face stiff competition from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in pursuit of the English talent next summer.
The London born defender has been in scintillating form for the Eagles and has put in a number of match-winning displays for the Selhurst outfit during this campaign. He has made 24 appearances for Roy Hodgson’s side this term and has two assists to his name across all competitions.
His incredible defensive contributions on the pitch has helped Palace steer clear of the relegation zone for the time being. Perhaps, his best performance of this campaign came against Manchester City last month when he was able to neutralise the threat of Leroy Sane on the wide areas to help his team grind out a narrow 3-2 win at the Etihad Stadium.
Wan-Bissaka is an exceptional player, and if he keeps on performing at a high level, then it is only a matter of time before one of the big clubs snap him up shortly. He is blessed with incredible pace and is a competent defender in his own half. The English right-back is quite hard to beat in 1v1 situations and can be a potent threat going forward as well.
The addition of a player of Wan-Bissaka’s potential will not only bolster Pep Guardiola’s defensive options but will also be an investment for the future. Hence, the Spanish manager shouldn’t waste any more time and go all out to secure his services next summer.
The Palace wonderkid will also add some healthy competition for the likes of Kyle Walker and Danilo, who have both been a bit underwhelming with their performances for City in this campaign so far. Moreover, at 21, the Mancunian heavyweights will be a getting a player who is going to improve with each year so they will have a real long-term asset in their hands if they can somehow manage to convince Palace to part ways with their prized asset.
