Everton are having a mixed season in the Premier League and are currently placed in the 10th position in the league table. They won their last match against Bournemouth by 2-0 and are looking to keep the momentum going as the season progresses.
However, their main problem has been the lack of a top quality finisher this season. Richarlison has put in shifts as a striker, but he is naturally a winger and has not had the same impact while leading the line for the Toffees. This has left manager Marco Silva searching for an out-and-out number nine, and it seems that he might have found the man he was looking for.
According to Belgian news outlet HLN, as cited by Sportwitness.uk, west London giants Chelsea have offered their out-of-favour striker Michy Batshuayi to Everton on a permanent transfer. The report claims that Chelsea executive Marina Granovskaia has offered the Toffees a chance to sign the player, who has also been linked with a loan move to Ligue 1 club AS Monaco.
The acquisition of a player like Batshuayi could be an excellent option for the Merseyside club to beef up their attack, which has been suffering this season with the likes of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin not being able to step up their game. The Toffees have already let go of their other attacker Oumar Niasse to join Cardiff City on loan, which opens up space for another striker in the side, allowing the Belgian ace to perfectly fit in.
It has not been pleasant going for the 25-year-old striker since his arrival at the west London club, and he has been serving spells on loan at clubs like Borussia Dortmund and Valencia. Though his stint in the Bundesliga was a decent one with nine goals in 14 matches for Die Schwarzgelben, his last spell at the Mestalla was far from okay with just three goals in 23 games. The Blues are reportedly now looking for the right suitor to offload him on a permanent basis.
Marco Silva should take this opportunity and bring the player to Goodison Park to add some class to his attack. Batshuayi is known for his poacher like abilities inside the box and his ability to deceive the opposition with his classy footwork. Besides, with age on his side, the 25-year-old Belgian could be a long term solution for the Toffees’ strike force if they can land him in the January transfer window.
The Toffees had a disastrous Premier League campaign in the last season but managed to finish in the top half of the table. This season, however, they have struggled to get the goals after starting decently in the Premier League and could do with a quality finisher like Batshuayi leading their line. It would also let Richarlison go back to his natural position as the left winger and would provide an edge to the Everton attack, which has looked pretty ordinary so far this season.
