Liverpool will face off against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table. The Reds managed to claim a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend which will give them a lot of confidence going into this clash.
However, Jurgen Klopp has a number of injury concerns ahead of this encounter with both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Georginio Wijnaldum set to miss out against the Eagles due to injury. The Merseyside club might deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation with Xherdan Shaqiri set to return to Klopp’s starting XI while Mohamed Salah spearheads the Reds attack.
4-2-3-1 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Crystal Palace
Defence
Alisson Becker is expected to feature in between the sticks for the Reds after he kept a clean sheet versus the Seagulls last weekend. The Brazilian goalie has conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League this season and has kept the most clean sheets as well.
Klopp might have Joel Matip back for this upcoming league clash so the Cameroonian might lineup alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold will out of action for a few weeks after picking up an injury against Brighton. Hence, James Milner might start as a makeshift right-back while Andrew Robertson looks to cause a lot of problems for the Palace defenders down the left flank.
The home team have had a successful season so far because of their stellar defensive record. Thus, we can once again expect them to keep things solid at the back versus the Eagles on Saturday.
Midfield
The duo of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson might feature as the holding midfielders with both of them looking to work hard and create some opportunities for the front players. The trio of Xherdan Shaqiri, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will play ahead of them as part of the Reds attack. Firmino has been enjoying a rich vein of form of late so we can expect him to be a significant threat for the Eagles defenders this weekend.
Naby Keita will sit on Klopp’s bench and might come on during the clash if needed.
Attack
Mohamed Salah is expected to lead the line for the Merseyside outfit up top. The Egyptian has often been deployed as a centre-forward during this campaign as he looks to use his pace to cause havoc inside the opposition penalty area.
Salah has slowly stepped up his game in recent weeks so he will be the player to watch out for at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
