According to a recent report by the Express, Arsenal are set to battle it out with Juventus in pursuit of Willem II winger Donis Avdijaj next summer. The same report has also revealed that the Kosovo international will be out of contract in the summer so the Gunners could potentially sign him on a free transfer if they can fend off interest from Juve at the end of this campaign.
Since making a switch to Koning Willem II Stadion from Schalke 04 last summer, the 22-year-old has been in sensational form for the Dutch Eredivisie outfit after putting in a number of eye-catching displays during the course of this season. Avdijaj has featured in 19 matches for Willem II this term, finding the back of the net eight times while creating six assists across all competitions.
He has also represented Germany at various youth levels before finally deciding to play for the Kosovan national side at the international level. The Osnabruck born attacker has managed to secure six international caps for Kosovo and has two goals to his name for his country.
Avdijaj is very quick and agile which helps him dribble with the ball out in the wide areas and create a lot of problems for the opposition defenders. He also has a keen eye for goal and can register his name on the scoresheet if given proper service up top. At 22, the Kosovo talent still has a lot of time to develop his game and take a step up to the highest level.
He is still a relatively unknown prospect so the jury is still out on whether he can prove his worth in the Premier League. The Gunners will be taking a shot in the dark if they decide to move in for the player next summer, but it is a gamble that might reap dividends in the long-run. The North London giants will be getting him for free, so it is worth the risk of bringing him to the Emirates Stadium.
If Avdijaj can somehow manage to replicate his excellent form from the Eredivisie and continue performing in the same way in the English top-flight, then the sky is the limit for the player. Unai Emery could also be the ideal man to get the best out of the youngster after he recently proved his man management skills by getting the best out of Matteo Guendouzi and Rob Holding so far this season.
